Rulerwork is a quilting technique using thick acrylic quilting rulers to create exact, repeatable designs.  Quilting rulers are used with a specific foot designed for rulerwork.  These techniques are not new to the world of quilting.  Longarmers have been using rulerwork techniques for years.  Now that we have a ruler foot for BERNINA domestic sewing machines (other brands may have also have a ruler foot available) everyone is able to use rulerwork techniques.

We will be constructing our samples using a fabric line from Windham Fabrics called Ebb and Flow.  Some fat quarter bundles of this line are available if you choose to use them OR you can choose other fabrics to create your quilt blocks.  You can choose to make pillows from your nine-patch quilted blocks or put them all together to make a quilt.

For those making a quilt, you will need yardage of the same fabric for the first border of each block.  This would require 1.5yards of fabric.  If you are making pillows from your blocks choose whichever fabric combination you want.  Each block requires four 3 ½” squares of one fabric and five 3 ½” for the second border (2 at 14 ½” and 2 at 20 ½”).   The nine-patch blocks will need to be made before each class.  A specific ruler will be highlighted and used each class.  The first class will use straight line designs using a straight ruler.

We will be following the instructions on the Bernina Block called WeAllSew.  It is a project called Rulerwork for beginners.

There is a discounted price for signing up for all 9 sessions.
