DESCRIPTION: Rulerwork Bag class
Practice your free motion and ruler work skills as you create the quilt-as-you-go tote bag. You will learn to audition rulerwork quilting designs, quilt them out on the bag pieces, and construct the bag once the base is quilted. This is a pattern by Nina McVeigh and it includes a zippered pouch pattern as well as the bag.
Bring your sewing machine (make use you know how to lower the feed dogs and that the machine is in working order), a single stitch plate if you have one, a rulerfoot and whatever rulers you may have, and a pencil and fabric marking tool (Frixion or water soluble marker or chalk). The fabrics can be scrappy or from a fabric collection (I used 6 different fabrics in the sample). You will also need a piece of muslin for the base and some batting. Choose the color and type thread you want to use to quilt the piece and also thread for construction the bag. Your handles can be made from fabric and batting or you could use webbing.
